Our story

Paws Community

Paws & Pasture Community Foundation was born from a simple belief; great communities grow when people come together and create something that belongs to everyone.

As owners of Paws & Pasture Farm Feed & Pet Supply in Oakland, Iowa, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know so many of the families, farmers, pet lovers, kids, and small businesses that make our community special. What started as a feed and pet supply store quickly became about so much more than what happens inside our four walls. It became a place to connect, support one another, celebrate our community, and dream about what could come next. That’s where the Paws & Pasture Community Foundation began. Our vision is to create a welcoming community space in Oakland where people, pets, families, local businesses, and organizations can come together. At the heart of that vision is a community dog park, surrounded by a dedicated space for farmers markets, local vendors, community events, youth projects, green space, and gatherings that bring people together. We believe our community has incredible talent and heart. We want to create opportunities for local kids to build something they can be proud of, for local makers and farmers to share what they create, for businesses and organizations to give back, and for families to simply have a place to gather and enjoy one another. And we want our four-legged family members to have a place of their own, too. 🐾

The Foundation is about more than building a dog park. It’s about building community. It’s about creating a space where memories are made, neighbors become friends, kids learn the value of giving back, and everyone has a reason to stop by, stay awhile, and feel like they belong. This is a community project, and we truly believe the best way to build it is together.
